Meet The Attorneys

EDGAR J. BORREGO
Attorney & Counselor at Law

     Edgar J. Borrego is a partner with Tanzy & Borrego Law Offices in El Paso,Texas and has been Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Consumer Bankruptcy since 1998. Mr. Borrego has been a frequent speaker at many bankruptcy seminars, such as the State Bar of Texas Advanced Consumer Bankruptcy Course, the Western District of Texas Bankruptcy Bench Bar Conference, the University of Texas Consumer Bankruptcy Course and many others.

     He has also been involved in many bar activities such as being past president of the Border Bankruptcy Bar, a member of the State Bar of Texas Grievance Panel, and the Bankruptcy Law Advisory Commission among others.

     Mr. Borrego was born and raised in El Paso, having attended Morehead Jr. High and Coronado High School. He later graduated with a B.B.A. from the Texas Tech University in 1989 and received his J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1993. He also attended the Universidad De Salamanca in Salamanca Spain.

     Mr. Borrego is admitted to practice law in the State of Texas, the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

     When not at work, Mr. Borrego enjoys spending time with his family and playing soccer.

Miguel Alejandro Flores
Attorney & Counselor at Law

     Miguel Flores graduated from The University of Texas at El Paso in 1997 with an English and American Literature Degree and received his Law Degree from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas. In 2007, he became Board Certified in Consumer Bankruptcy Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Since graduating from law school, Mr. Flores has been with the Law Firm of Tanzy & Borrego, and he is currently Vice-President of the firm.

     Mr. Flores is a past President of the Border Bankruptcy Association and also served as a Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-President of that association. He has spoken at a State Bar seminar and served as a committee member for the changes and editing of the bankruptcy local rules in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Flores has taught bankrutpcy at the El Paso Community College, and he has also spoken to hundreds of local high school students across the city about money management.

     A product of local roots, Mr. Flores is a native El Pasoan, attending Vista Hills Elementary, Desert View Middle, and graduating from J.M. Hanks High School in 1991. In high school, Mr. Flores played varsity football and ran track. He despised neon colors, but admittedly wore the acid washed jeans on a regular basis.

     An avid mixed martial arts fan, Mr. Flores practices the sport three to four times in a week. It is not uncommon for him to show up to work with a black eye, a fat lip or a swollen elbow to mention a few. He has gained the respect of his employees and colleagues, and has yet to discover the nickname coined for him at the office. Depending on who you ask, he is either "The Mighty Migs" or "Hamburger Face".

     Mr. Flores has two wonderful stepchildren and a son of his own. Greg, age 18, is a saxophone player and will be attending Trinity University. Nina, age 12, is a cheerleader, volleyball player and a heartbreaker. Evan, age 7, is a straight "A" student, loves legos and model trains, and thinks his dad is the coolest guy on the planet.
